Support Our Mission

The USS Missouri Memorial Association (UMMA) is a federally registered Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization designated by the U.S. Navy as caretaker of the Battleship Missouri. In this privileged role as caretaker of the Battleship Missouri, UMMA is not supported with government funding.

Our mission is to preserve the Battleship Missouri and share her story and place in history. Donations of any size to support this mission are gratefully accepted. To give a secure online donation click here. (Gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law.)

Q: How will my donation be used?

A: Donations are utilized to support the following key initiatives:

Preservation: Painting the ship’s exterior and interior spaces; improving the ship’s energy efficiency; collecting and recording historical artifacts related to the USS Missouri and her crew. To learn more about our preservation of historical artifacts and records click here.

Restoration: Working to mitigate rust and corrosion; replacing and refurbishing the classic teak wood deck.

Education: Sponsoring experiential learning programs focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); leading local students in overnight, aboard ship, encampments; arranging performing arts presentations for Battleship Missouri guests by local, national, and international groups. Additional Support Opportunities

EXPANDING OUR HORIZONS - CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

The Expanding our Horizons Campaign seeks to raise $5 million for the following mission-driven objectives:

  • Invest in the ongoing preservation of the Battleship Missouri for future generations.
  • Build a new Education Resource Center for the preservation of wartime artifacts and historical documents in tandem with the accommodation of administrative offices.
  • Prepare for the 75th Anniversary of the End of WWII on September 2, 2020.
  • Enhance the visitor experience with improved restroom facilities and shuttle transport services.

VOLUNTEER

When the Battleship Missouri was in commission, there were 2,500 Sailors maintaining the ship. Today, the Battleship Missouri Memorial has less than 25 ship maintenance staff working on the ship. Volunteers are needed to restore and preserve teak decks, metal decks, bulkheads, displays and equipment. For more information on volunteer opportunities, please click here.
