Shuttle Service

We are located on an active military base - Ford Island, and drive-on access is limited to those with base access only.

A complimentary shuttle service is available from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center for guests without access to Ford Island.  Please park at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center parking lot (NPS parking fee of $7 applies), then take the shuttle to the Battleship Missouri Memorial. Please note bags are not allowed on the shuttle. Shuttle service operates every 15-20 minutes from 8:00 AM from the Visitor Center. The shuttle will return you back to the Visitor Center once the ceremony is complete.

Prohibited Items at the Monument

For security reasons, certain items are not allowed at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. Please review the list below to ensure you comply with the regulations:

  • Bags and Containers: Any bags, packages, or containers that offer concealment (e.g., purses, handbags, backpacks, fanny packs, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage) that exceed the dimensions of 1.25" x 2.25" x 5.5" are not allowed. The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum operates a baggage storage facility near the visitor center entrance, with a fee for all sizes, including luggage. This storage can be used for visits to all Pearl Harbor Historic Sites.
  • Glass Containers: Glass containers, except for baby food jars and tempered glass water bottles, are prohibited.
  • Musical Instruments: Instruments and their cases, unless related to an NPS-issued Special Use Permit.
  • Recreational Equipment: Items such as skateboards, skate shoes, Frisbees, and balls are not allowed.
  • Flowers: Potted plants, vases, or containers with flowers are prohibited.
  • Aerosol Containers: No aerosol cans are allowed on the premises.
  • Weapons: Knives, multitools, and other weapons, including pocket knives, are prohibited.
  • Alcoholic Beverages: No alcohol is allowed on the premises.
  • Recreational Devices: Bicycles, scooters, e-bikes, Segways, or other rideable devices are prohibited.
  • Firearms: The Battleship Missouri is located on an active-duty Navy Base.  As per Navy regulations, no firearms are permitted either on the shuttle bus or on the Missouri property.
  • Flags, Signs, or Banners: Unless related to a permit, these items on posts or poles are prohibited.
  • Wreaths: Wreaths on stands are not allowed unless associated with a permit.

Permitted Items at the Monument

Certain items are allowed at the monument under specific conditions:

  • Clutches and Wallets: Clutches (with or without a strap) and wallets measuring 1.25" x 2.25" x 5.5" or smaller.
  • Clear Plastic Bags: Bags in which contents are readily visible, similar to those allowed at football games.
  • Shopping Bags: Small canvas or recycled material shopping bags purchased in the secure zone are allowed on the day of purchase but not for re-entry after exiting the secure zone.
  • Wheelchairs: Wheelchairs with fixed bags that cannot be removed.
  • Medical Bags: Bags containing medical equipment that cannot be placed in lightweight, plastic, transparent shopping bags.
  • Strollers: Strollers with a fixed pouch that cannot be removed.
  • Musical Instruments: Instruments and cases related to an NPS-issued Special Use Permit or similar partner document.
  • Food and Water: Food and water are allowed as long as they are not concealed in a package.
  • Helmets: Motorcycle, bicycle, and other helmets are allowed.

Note: All permitted bags will be inspected and/or tagged as screened.

Individuals without a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) can gain access to the installation without going to Pass and ID as follows:

Escorted by a Common Access Card holder AND possessing one of the following unexpired forms of identification:

  • U.S. Passport or Passport Card
  • REAL ID compliant Driver’s License or ID Card
  • U.S. Department of State Driver’s License
  • Federal personal Identity Verification (PIV) Card
  • Department of Homeland Security Trusted Traveler Program Card (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)

 

Other identification cards issued by Federal, State, or local government agencies are acceptable, provided they contain a photograph and biographic information such as name, date of birth, gender, height, eye color, and address. 

Notes:

  • The driver must have current DOD credentials.
  • No entry will be granted to anyone without and ID as listed above.
  • Pass and ID will not be open this coming weekend.  They will be open for regular working hours during the week.
  • Access Control Points will conduct a 100% hands-on identification inspection before granting approval to enter the installation.
  • The above does not apply to Foreign Nationals (FN). Foreign National access requests must be submitted via Foreign National Visitors Request (FNVR) application at the Nimitz Pass and Identification Center.
