USS Missouri Memorial Association Announces Three New Board Members

The Association Welcomes Back Three Previous Board Members

Pearl Harbor, HI – (July 10, 2018) The USS Missouri Memorial Association announces three new members to its Board of Directors, Doug Johnstone, Judy Yuriko Lee and Revell Newton. In addition, the Association welcomes back previous board members, Vic Angoco, Ruth Ann Becker and Mark Polivka.

Doug Johnstone is a Senior Vice President at The Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC), where he is responsible for implementing the mixed-use developments that comprise Ward Village. Johnstone is intimately involved with entitlement, project management, construction, sales and financing. Prior to the HHC, he managed value-add redevelopment efforts with the real estate portfolio for Kamehameha Schools-Bishop Estate. He attended Stanford University and also serves on the board of directors for the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation and HomeAid Hawaii.

Judy Yuriko Lee is a partner at Goodsill where she focuses on estate planning and administration of trusts and estate by individuals and professional trustees. She is also a Fellow with the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Since 2006, Judy has been recognized in Best Lawyers and received the honor of being named 2014-2015 Honolulu Trust and Estates “Lawyer of the Year.” Outside of the office, Judy is a regular speaker at the Hawaii Tax Institute, and also has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law.

Revell Newton is the General Manager for the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort where he oversees all departments of the hotel and has extensive knowledge of Hawaii’s resort market segments. He is also involved with Outrigger’s global resort programs, marketing strategies and ongoing customer education. Newton is a member of Meeting Professionals International and graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and minor in Japanese.

Vic Angoco is Senior Vice President of Matson’s Pacific division, where he has a key role in overseeing all aspects of Matson’s Hawaii, Guam and South Pacific markets. He also serves as executive vice president of the Matson subsidiary – Matson Terminals, Inc. Angoco also represents the container shipping company in various community service activities, and also serving in leadership roles pertaining to the modernization of Hawaii’s harbors and improvements to the Port of Guam’s infrastructure. Angoco has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Oregon State University.

Ruth Ann Becker is the founder and CEO of Becker Communications with over 33 years of public relations experience, particularly in issues management, crisis communication, promotional public relations and strategic communication. She has been recognized with numerous awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and was also named one of “Hawaii’s Enterprising Women” by the U.S. Business Administration. Since 1999, Becker has been included on Pacific Business News’ “Women Who Mean Business” list. She is actively involved in the community and serves on the Board of Regents for Chaminade University and as Chair of its marketing committee. In her second home of Dallas, TX, she is a board member and membership chair for the Dallas 200, and a member of the Catholic Charities Dallas marketing committee.

Mark Polivka is the founder of Monarch Insurance Services, Inc., the leading insurance broker for the healthcare industry in Hawaii. He built his business philosophy based on trust, dedication and drive to service clients’ needs. He is actively involved in the community and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Mid-Pacific Institute and St. Andrew’s Schools. He also serves as Treasurer for the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and is Chairman for the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii.

About the Battleship Missouri Memorial

Since opening in January 1999, the Battleship Missouri Memorial has attracted more than eight million visitors from around the world with a fascinating tour experience showcasing the USS Missouri’s unique place in history. Located a mere ship’s length from the USS Arizona Memorial, the Mighty Mo completes a historical visitor experience that begins with the “day of infamy” and sinking of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and ends with Japan’s formal surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945.

The USS Missouri had an astounding career over five decades and three wars – World War II, the Korean War, and Desert Storm – after which it was decommissioned and donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Association operates the Battleship Missouri Memorial as a historic attraction and oversees her care and preservation with the support of visitors, memberships, grants, and donations.

The Battleship Missouri Memorial is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. General admission, which includes choice of an optional tour, is $29 per adult and $13 per child (4-12).
