Mighty Mo Open for Classroom Learning Opportunities
Engaging Educational Experiences Both On Board and Online
Pearl Harbor, HI – Possibly the largest classroom on island, the Battleship Missouri holds over 75 years of history and a multitude of educational programs for students between fourth and 12th grade. From virtual to on board experiences, the Mighty Mo’s educational team offers immersive hands-on history lessons along with STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math)- focused activities.
Bring the ship into your at-home classroom. Virtual classroom presenters can bring the story of America’s last battleship to life with a free 30-minute historic presentation in addition to a virtual tour of the historic battleship itself. For a more in-depth exploration, students can also opt for a one-hour virtual field trip followed by a session of student-based questions and answers.
The Mighty Mo is a tremendous venue for students young and old to explore hands-on history. Choose between two tours: self-guided or guided and walk the most famous teak decks of our time. Students will experience what life was like for the thousands of Sailors and Marines who called the USS Missouri home. Stand on the Surrender Deck, the official spot where World War II came to an end and restored peace to the world. Plan a field trip for your class and discover all the stories that this historic ship holds.
The Battleship Missouri Memorial’s Overnight Encampment is available year-round, welcoming groups sized 30 – 80 guests. This unique program is designed to help students foster leadership and team building skills while experiencing what life at sea was like for the battleship’s crewmembers.

Battleship Missouri Memorial
Since opening in January 1999, the Battleship Missouri Memorial has attracted more than 9-million visitors from around the world with a fascinating tour experience showcasing the USS Missouri’s unique place in history. Located a mere ship’s length from the USS Arizona Memorial, the Mighty Mo completes a historical visitor experience that begins with the “day of infamy” and sinking of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and ends with Japan’s formal surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. The USS Missouri had an astounding career over five decades and three wars – World War II, the Korean War, and Desert Storm – after which it was decommissioned and donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Association operates the Battleship Missouri Memorial as a historic attraction and oversees her care and preservation with the support of visitors, memberships, grants, and donations.
The Battleship Missouri Memorial is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Military, kama‘āina (local resident) and school group pricing is available. For information or reservations, call (808) 455-1600 or visit USSMissouri.org.
