During USS Missouri’s 1980s modernization, platforms were constructed on the superstructure amidships and aft to accommodate eight 4-missile Armored Box Launchers (ABLs) for a total of 32 missiles.

    Tomahawk Missiles
Tomahawks are long range, subsonic cruise missiles, used for land attack warfare with a range of approximately 675 nautical miles and capable of carrying a 1,000 lb. explosive warhead.

Tomahawks use an inertial and terrain contour-matching (TERCOM) guidance system to find their target.
